"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened." – Anatole France
Work with Non-Profits
Working with Non-Profits began as a hobby and turned into a passion. I am inspired by those who dedicate their whole life's work to a cause and work to make the world a better place. In my lifetime, I know that I want to leave a positive memory to those who knew me, which is why I dedicate a portion of my time to my community.
The SPCA of Monterey County and Team LOCO
I have always loved animals. In July of 2012 I adopted my Chihuahua, Lola, from the SPCA of Monterey County. After bonding with Lola and creating an everlasting friendship I was inspired by my pup to give back to the home that brought us together. Starting small we would donate toys and funds to the SPCA we would collect in honor of her birthday but we knew we wanted to contribute in a bigger way. This is when we started to participate in the SPCA Wag N Walk, an annual walkathon in our hometown raising money for the shelter and its homeless animals. Last year, Lola and I were honored as the 5th place walker/donator with our donation of $1,600. Lola and I continue to raise money year round for the SPCA and look forward to the Wag N Walk every May.
LENT: Let's Eat Now and Tomorrow
What started as an assignment for my Interactive Advertising Class last summer, LENT became bigger than I had dreamed of. I started LENT in the hopes of feeding the homeless around my hometown of Seaside and my current home, Berkeley.
The idea of L.E.N.T. came to me ironically during the season of Lent. For those of you who don't know, Lent is a season of the Christian Year where Christians focus on simple living, prayer, and fasting in order to grow closer to God. It's the forty days before Easter. Lent excludes Sundays because every Sunday is like a little Easter. L.E.N.T.'s main goal is to provide those in need with a healthy lunch and dose of inspiration. All funds raised will help pay for the "Inspiration Meals" given out. Each meal would include a PB&J sandwich, chips, granola bar, and bottled water. With every meal there will be a letter of inspiration hand written by Me. Lunches will be given out throughout the Bay Area (San Francisco, Berkeley, and Oakland) and The Monterey County (Seaside, Monterey, and Del Rey Oaks).
In One and half months we raised $630 and the donations and support continue to come in.
To date we have given out 101 inspiration meals.
All in all, my goal is to fill their tummy with food, and their hearts with inspiration and hope.
